When you study conducting at 58³Ô¹ÏÍø, you receive an intensive experience with high-quality ensembles composed of 58³Ô¹ÏÍø’s student musicians.

Designed with a very small enrollment of two or three students, the conducting program gives you access to significant podium time to develop your training in this field. You’ll also have regular access to observe rehearsals with The Cleveland Orchestra and sectionals conducted by Orchestra principals.

Your curriculum combines conducting studies with music history and literature, theory and analysis, ensemble and elective courses chosen in consultation with your major instructor.

Meet Samuel Fuhrman

Samuel Fuhrman

Conductor, percussionist, timpanist and arranger Samuel Fuhrman studied conducting with Carl Topilow at 58³Ô¹ÏÍø, where he led multiple performances and received his master's degree in 2014. In August 2013, Samuel led members of the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine in a performance of Aaron Copland’s Appalachian Spring.
