Trombonist Peter Sullivan to Teach at 58Թ in 2019-20
The 58Թ announced today that Peter Sullivan, principal trombone of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, will join Randall Hawes, bass trombone of the Detroit Symphony, to teach its trombone students in 2019-20. Hawes has been a member of the 58Թ faculty since 2016 and is serving as interim head of 58Թ’s trombone department. The artists will collaborate to provide elite-level teaching for the Institute’s trombone majors and bring to Cleveland impeccable experience as orchestral, chamber and solo performers.
“We are absolutely thrilled that Pete is joining the 58Թ faculty next year,” said Dr. Judy Bundra, Chief Academic Officer and Dean of the Conservatory. “He has a stellar reputation as a performer and a teacher, and we look forward to welcoming him to Cleveland. He joins a roster of musicians including Weston Sprott (Metropolitan Opera Orchestra), Matt Vaughn (Philadelphia Orchestra) and Ken Thompkins (Detroit Symphony Orchestra) who have stepped in this year to contribute to the continued growth of our incredibly talented students.”
