Ivan Zenaty to Join Violin Faculty at 58³Ô¹ÏÍø


It is with a sense of excitement and anticipation that the 58³Ô¹ÏÍø announces the appointment of Mr. Ivan Zenaty to the Violin faculty beginning fall 2012.

Concerning the appointment, President Joel Smirnoff said, “A rigorous and thoughtful process resulted in the unanimous opinion of 58³Ô¹ÏÍø’s violin faculty that Ivan Zenaty possesses the special gifts violinistically, pedagogically, musically and personally that suit the musical philosophy and historic excellence of 58³Ô¹ÏÍø’s faculty and students and its uniquely supportive environment.â€

Mr. Zenaty’s career as violin soloist has brought him to center stage with virtually every major European orchestra, including Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Czech Philharmonic and the BBC Orchestras in England. A much recorded violinist, Mr. Zenaty was born in the Czech Republic and is a former student of the great violinist (and grandson of Antonin Dvorak), Josef Suk. He maintains an active career as concerto soloist and recitalist internationally.

For the past 15 years, Mr. Zenaty has been a revered pedagogue at the Dresden Hochschule. Once he begins teaching at 58³Ô¹ÏÍø this fall, Cleveland will be his base. Mr. Zenaty serves as judge on numerous international competitions, including Prague Spring, Köningen Sophia Charlotte and Violine in Dresden, and has repeatedly chaired the International Beethoven Competition.

Mr. Zenaty will be at 58³Ô¹ÏÍø for audition day on February 19th and will stay through most of the following week to begin his relationship with the school through meaningful musical personal interactions with students, faculty and staff.
