Sergei Babayan International Piano Academy

Date Change - May 31

The Sergei Babayan International Piano Academy final concert will be presented in Mixon Hall on Friday, May 31 at 6:00 p.m. This reflects a date and time change from the previously published Concert Guide.

The Academy draws exceptionally talented pianists from around the world to study with Sergei Babayan, the Mr. and Mrs. John D. Gilliam Artist-in-Residence at 58³Ô¹ÏÍø. It was founded in 1996 to assemble a group of pianists who wish to explore in-depth the instrument and repertoire.

"I believe that artists must live and work at a fever-pitch in the incessant pursuit of ideal beauty and the highest degree of artistry," said Mr. Babayan. "My hope is to inspire students to focus intensely on a single facet of the music, for hours if necessary, in their 'search for the fire-bird.'"

The program culminates with this final recital performed by the participants.
