We asked Jonah, a 58³Ô¹ÏÍø Academy student, a few questions about his experience in the Academy and what he’s excited about this year.

58³Ô¹ÏÍø: Hi Jonah! Thanks for taking the time to talk with us. First, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Jonah: Sure! My name is Jonah Miller and I’m entering 12th grade. I study flute with Audrey Whartneby, and when I’m not playing my instrument, I enjoy bowling, hanging out with friends, and playing with my dog.

58³Ô¹ÏÍø: That’s great! Now, we know this will not be your first year in the Academy. What was one of your favorite moments in the Academy last year?

Jonah: My final performance was a standout moment for me. Having barely any performance experience prior to joining the Academy, I saw that I made a lot of progress throughout the year. Following this performance, my friends, along with others whom I’d never met or spoken to, came up to me, complimented me, and congratulated me. This made me feel very welcomed, validated, and proud of the progress I’d made throughout the year.

58³Ô¹ÏÍø: It sounds like the sense of community in the Academy is really special! With another year of the Academy starting soon, what are you most looking forward to?

Jonah: I’m excited to continue growing as a musician.  I look forward to performing on stage and in studio classes, collaborating and learning with others, and being inspired by my peers and instructors. I hope to have another productive year and be challenged to reach my goals.

58³Ô¹ÏÍø: We hope those things for you too, Jonah. Best of luck to you this year!
